Pattern Flowers...
Kindergartners discussed what makes a pattern then we focused on making patterns with lines, shapes and colors. They first painted their flower-like shape and then used oil pastels to create patterns on one section or many.
Paper Collage Buildings - -
We had a great talk about geometric shapes and which are often used in buildings. The kids worked on their great cutting and gluing skills and created these fun bright buildings.
Cardboard apples inspired by artist Eric Carle and his Very Hungry Catepillars!
Mrs. Egan's kindergartners started the year off with a fun Eric Carle-inspired APPLE project. The kids drew their own apple on cardboard and painted them in. They made their own green worms (like the Very Hungry Caterpillar) that were coming out of a hole in their apple --Sept. 2012
Our October project taught about the color wheel. We discussed PRIMARY and SECONDARY colors. Kinders made paint and paper collage PUMPKIN art out of the three secondary colors: orange, purple and green.
On November 1st, Kinders learned about Henri Matisse and studied his abstract paper collage. We explored different textures and they used a variety of materials to create the layers in their big-stack hamburgers! (Please forgive the sideways images!)
November 15 Kinders came into the art room to discuss the abstract artist Wassily Kandinsky. They all had different ideas in their own interpretation of what he was painting. They learned Kandinsky used circles often in his work so we colored in our own Kandinsky-inspired circles.
